I knew it was and old song, I heard a demo version many years ago, but... guess I know why it hadn't been released... first I found this: R.E.M. is ON!: "many fears are gone, step down, step down, watch a heel crush, ah this means war" - almost the same words as in ITEOTW(AWKI)... they are not the words you can hear now in the single version, but it's from the previous version of BD known as P.S.A., so... at first I thought that as usual Michael tried different lyrics with different tunes, but... then I realized it has very similar harmony to ITEOTW - you can actually sing ITEOTW lyrics (and melody) to BD, so... they were the same song or seemed to be very similar that's why only one (one version) was released then and the other now... well that's my theory of conspiracy...
and also worth noticing on BD a very rare (for R.E.M.) instrument - harmonica can be heard - who plays it? I bet it's Mike... or Michael... :) ? the only other time I can think of harmonica in R.E.M. songs is Driver 8... anything else?

also reading those comments I've learned a new argument: why does a CD is the same price (or sometimes higher) as DVD? I doubt that producing an album could be compared with producing a film... or maybe... hmmm ;) ...

Listening to Clocks Live found out that Chris doesn't play both passages at a time as heard at the end of the album version... when the higher part begins he plays it and leaves the lower one... so he's not that good piano man ;) and I don't have to learn to play them both at a time... And finally learned to play whole "The Scientist"...

nie pamiętam już dlaczego zacząłem czytać znowu moją antologię składaną jakoś w ten dekadencki okres przełomu tysiącleć... miałem rację: to lepsze niż zdjęcia - bo to zdjęcia duszy - zarówno piosenki sprzez 10 lat, jak i 'tło historyczne' dopisane do każdej 3 lata temu... a najbardziej spodobała mi się Radosna korespondencja... aż dziw bierze, że takie rzeczy wypisywałem... jak normalnie dojrzały artysta... chyba zostanę pisarzem ;)

no i byliśmy... i najbardzjej z II części – Gospel a cappella - podobało mi się Rock My Soul... na początku Ride the Chariot wydaje mi się, że my w chórze lepiej śpiewamy... a na pewno wolniej... Elijah Rock podobnie, chodź ten kawłek w szybszym tempie brzmi lepiej... ale po Rock My Soul już było coraz lepiej...
ale ciekawostka... chór klaskał tylko przez kilka taktów w 1 utworze i chyba wiem dlaczego... było to akurat na solo jedej laski, która chyba najlepiej tej solówki nie umiała... no ale skutecznie to klaskaniem zatuszowali :)
okazało się, że to, po co przyszedłem na koncert, to Gospele... aż sam poczułem klimat kościoła babtystów, zwłaszcza widząc nie krępujucych się specjalnie publicznością chór wiernych... i po kolei solistów w roli kaznodziei...
acha, poza zmieniającymi się solistami (chyba każdy chórzysta miał solo w którymś kawałku - bo w niektórych było nawet po 3 solistów), to również dyrygentka się zmieniała 2 razy... zamiast niej dyrygowali ludzie z chóru, a w ostatnim kawałku ona zaspiewała solo... i to w stylu operowym... nice

Heard "Send Your Love" on the radio and didn't like that. Why? I realized when I saw on TV its live version. It's not that the song is bad, it's the single arrangement. When played live SYL is quite a nice song. The same thing happened to my favourite "Desert Rose". Beautiful album version, but when released as single it got that horrible rave beat... I don't know who's responsible for that but hope it's not Sting, cause I'm starting liking his new album...
